This is my first blog ever. Let me tell you, they're not exactly hard to figure out but it was a process.
One of the first pictures I chose to show as a portrait I like is of a dancers, Cyd Charisse. The portrait is by Richard Avedon. I really like this portrait because the composition . It keeps your eye moving but you have to focus on her because of the white background. I also like the range of value because you can still see detail in her black dress while the part flowing off behind her fade into the white.
The next photo want to show is by Dan Winters of his son Dylan. I like this photo because of the lighting as well as the subject. It seems dramatic but still has the boyish charm of his name being written on his stomach in typical child's handwriting. I think its unique because of his pose. Its not very childlike but more tense.

The last photograph I like is by Irving Penn. The picture is called Cuzco Children. They are from Peru. The picture is interesting to me because its an unnatural sight of kids dressed and acting as if they are adults. Its a good portrait because you get some sense of who they are, for example, because of their clothes they don't look to wealthy.
The next few picture I'm posting are taken by me. Hope you like them :)
