Photo Book Review

This artist book by Robert Frank is the catalogue that accompanied his exhibition entitled "Flamingo." The book displays photographs taken throughout his career. Frank not only captures photographs of people and places throughout time but how he experiences it by incorporating text on his prints. The pictures and text explore his imagination and thoughts. The text on the prints might seem unrelated to the viewer however the artist maybe trying to persuade the viewer to make a connection.  Also, juxtaposing certain images next to other images, he creates a narrative of his surroundings. The book shows a stream of conscious photography as if hes documenting what's in front of him when he's taking pictures.

Book Ideas

I liked the photos of my surreal, panoramic, and haunted project most. My favorite pictures to shoot were the place and the haunted pictures. I would have to say the most challenging part of continuing panoramic and haunted shots would be finding the right location for successful pictures. I like the idea of doing panoramic to describe broken down places, such as the closed Bellport outlets I shot, and maybe trying places such as Kings park old asylum, as well as the location Sam Cranmer shot at. The surreal I think would be harder to work at because I would want to use models for some, if not most shots, which aren't always available.
